The work made up of four plexiglas elements shaped like the letters “D”, “O”, “V”, “E”, and realized for the open-air exhibition at Parc Lullin in Geneva, featured a different installation curated by the artist for each new presentation.
In Geneva Paolini propped each letter up against a tree, along a circular path.
In 1986 in Stuttgart, he distributed the four letters in a circle along the perimeter of the museum Rotonda, with the "D" and "O" inside a window, and the "V" and "E" set down on the ground, half-hidden among the leaves of a green plant bed.
In 1990 in Bologna he related the four elements to the same number of chairs arranged in a circle and in part turned upside down on the ground.
In 1998 in Graz he distributed them at random inside a crowded and intricate group of other works, while in Siena that same year he propped the four elements up against a window sill, turned upside down and stuck inside each other.
In 2007 in Rovereto the artist instead arranged the letters so that they corresponded to the four corners of the exhibition space, along with Qui (GPO-0546), in a central position on the ground, and Lo spazio (GPO-0120), mounted on the four walls of the room.
The work constitutes a larger replica of the first version made in 1967 (GPO-0116), which was restricted to the installation of the letters on the ground, in a circle, so that the word DOVE [Where] is legible at a glance.
