The edition should be arranged on a white plinth measuring 80 x 60 x 60 cm, with a protective plexiglas case measuring 40 x 60 x 60 cm. The photograph should not be placed directly on the support surface, but rather on a plexiglas sheet measuring 45 x 30 cm and it must be held down by a second similar sheet. The photograph must be slightly askew with respect to the sides of the plinth, akin to the image itself. The stone should be placed on top of the transparent sheet with the photograph underneath it so that it corresponds to the stone depicted in the image.

A photograph of the painting by René Magritte Le Monde invisible (1954) portraying a large stone in front of a window open onto the sea, is held down by a plexiglas sheet. A real stone is placed in the same area as the photographic one, so as to partially conceal the image.
Paolini's stone-object that hides Magritte's stone-image doubles the gesture of the visual concealment, offsetting the perspectival view announced by the open window. Just as Magritte's stone prevents the gaze from going beyond the window, Paolini's stone holds back the vision on the threshold that divides the material reality from the artifices of the representation.
The expression “Hotel Continental” refers to a personal experience of the artist, who just a few months earlier, on the occasion of a trip to Naples, stayed at the Hotel Continental: the room overlooking the sea reminded him of Magritte's painting, hence the association between the two moments in the title of the print.
