The print is part of the portfolio produced by Edizioni l’Obliquo – directed by Giorgio Bertelli – on the occasion of the reprint of the book by M. Agostino Gallo titled Le dieci giornate della vera agricoltura, e piaceri della villa (1564). The portfolio includes ten lithographs by Regula Dettwiler, Mark Dion, Piero Gilardi, Giorgio Griffa, Emilio Isgrò, Joseph Kosuth, Sabrina Mezzaqui, Giulio Paolini, Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger, and Lois Weinberger. The same plates are reproduced in the book (one for each “Giornata”); the plate by Paolini is associated with the Giornata prima. Sopra le cose pertinenti all’arte dell’Agricoltura, diviso in sette giornate.

Originally, the print was contained, along with nine other prints, in a double-sided three-flap grey cardboard folder, closed format 30 x 21 cm; cover with titles in black (title of the book by M. Agostino Gallo, list of the artists, publisher). The folder includes a white sheet at the beginning, the title-page, the plates (each preceded by a sheet featuring the title of the Day and the name of the artist), and the colophon.
The folder is contained, along with a copy of the book by M. Agostino Gallo, in a wooden sliding lid box, 33 x 24.5 x 7 cm, blank.

The sketched outline of a vase of flowers, set down on a pedestal, contains a replica of its own image in a smaller format. The vase converses with some circular elements of an astronomical and botanical nature that alternate above it, like the figures of a composition in fieri.
The theme and the title harken back to a project conceived in 2008 for a print that was never made, and was developed the following year in some variants on paper (GPC-0725, GPC-1139, GPC-1140).
The original collage on which the print is based is documented in the online Catalogue Raisonné of works on paper at number GPC-1249.
