Morire / Mourir / To Die, 1967
GPO-0128
Ink on wood
Ø 75 cm
F.M. Montresor Collection, Peschiera del Garda
The three versions of the verb "to die" referred to in the title – in Italian, French, and English – are each written on one of the wooden bars of the stretcher of the reversed canvas, so that they share the letter "o" at the point where they cross. The image of the same circular canvas, the "o" serves as a turning point for the "wheel" of interchangeable names, all of which can be referred to the same meaning.
The work corresponds to a variant made that same year (Amore / Amour / Love, GPO-0129), with a different word and with a canvas measuring half the size.
