The photograph printed on a primed canvas reproduces a blank canvas, thus offering a doubling of its image. The photographic duplication tends to make the dimensions of the painting coincide with those of its reproduction, the original with the copy.
The work marks the introduction in Paolini's work of the technique of the reproduction of a photographic image on an emulsified canvas.
