On a photograph representing several canvases propped up against a wall in the artist's studio a drawing in blue pencil outlines the life-size body of a woman, painted in the colour flesh (we are informed of this by the title, which includes the German word for that particular colour). The figure falls in the area corresponding to the only canvas that we can see from the recto, which thus appears to feature the portrait of a posing model.
Together with the use of photography, the introduction of the figure of the artist and of his relationship with the work, as well as of the context of the artist's studio, the theatre of the potential occurrence of a painting in the making, is the main theme in Paolini's 1965 output.
