The spatial pattern suggested by the four diagonals traced on the larger canvas leads to the drawing of the canvas itself, produced in the middle of the smaller canvas. Rather than bringing the gaze towards the announced revelation of an "unpublished" painting, the work leads it towards a vision of its own image.
The same title was used for a thematic variant made during the same year (GPO-0337).
