Veronica’s Veil

Delimiting an area that is inaccessible to the public is a ribbon consisting of numerous strips cut out from colour posters and reproductions of the artist's solo exhibitions. The ribbon is supported by eight small steel columns. At the centre of the area, hanging from the ceiling way up high is a crumpled up canvas alluding to the sacred image referenced in the title.
“The work is above us, unreachable, and beyond the reach of the author, or the spectator, confining them to beyond the enclosure, which constitutes the only decipherable trace of an impracticable and unknowable place", remarks the artist as concerns the work.1
The same theme was reformulated with the same title, but in formally different terms, in 1998 (GPO-0811).
