Sei per uno, 1998

GPO-0822

Six for One

Primed canvas mounted on reversed canvas, pencil on reversed canvas and on wall

Reversed canvas 160 x 160 cm, overall dimensions 160 x 520 cm

Private collection, Milan

Inside the cross-pieces of the stretcher of an overturned canvas is a smaller canvas, turned so that it is viewed from the recto. It appears to be symmetrically doubled by the two side squares of the same size, outlined in part on the overturned canvas and in part on the wall.
Like the previous variants made in 1994 and titled
Due per uno, Tre per uno, and Quattro per uno (cf. GPO-0740, GPO-0741, GPO-0745), Sei per uno also presents the components of a sort of game of permutations preceding the fulfillment of a painting.
