The triptych is made up of two canvases to either side both of which viewed from the verso, and one in the middle viewed from the recto featuring a pencil drawing. The image outlined on the primed canvas repeats in a reduced version the image of the two overturned canvases, including them in a spatial frame that at the same time duplicates the outline of the stretchers.
In other words, the work serves as a "quadrant" for itself, orienting the viewer's gaze towards the perception of the work as such.
The same theme was formulated in three other variants made during the same year (GPO-0288, GPO-0289, GPO- 0840).
