Four photographic canvases, framed by twelve primed canvases reproduce the cut-out image of the sculptural group by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux entitled Les quatres parties du monde soutenant la sphère céleste (ca. 1872), so that the middle of the painting literally divides into four parts the globe held by the allegorical figures.
