Un quadro (di Ida Fellini), 1969

GPO-0191

A Painting (by Ida Fellini)

Photo prints affixed to primed canvas with white drawing pins

25 x 50 cm (two parts 25 x 25 cm each)

Signed, titled, and dated on the verso of the second canvas, lower stretcher bar, right: “Giulio Paolini / Un quadro (di Ida Fellini) / 1969”

Mario Pieroni Collection, Rome

The enlargement of an extract from the headline of an interview with Ida Fellini about her son Federico, a world-famous film director, is divided and pinned to two canvases placed close together. The fragment of the text suggests curious clues as concerns a subject that remains hidden. "Very few words, simple, foreseeable, almost banal ones encompassed, however, by the perfect measure of the two squares, end up achieving the dimension and the title of a painting”,1 Paolini notes.
