Senza titolo, 1967
GPO-0123
Untitled
Perforated primed canvas, green nylon thread
Canvas 95 x 95 cm, overall height variable
Signed and dated on the verso, upper corner of the stretcher: “Giulio Paolini / 1967”
Rosa and Gilberto Sandretto Collection, Milano
The canvas is hung on the wall so that the centre is at the viewer's eye level (160 cm from the ground). The nylon thread, one end of which is fastened to a nail in the upper limit of the wall, descends from above behind the canvas, and emerges from the recto, at the centre, to then fall freely to the floor all in a tangle.
A primed canvas in a tilted position and with a hole in the middle is fastened to the upper part of the wall. It is pierced by one green thread which drops to the ground in a tangle, similar to Icaro (GPO-0121).
The same theme was formulated in two other versions of the work made that same year, which differ because of the number of threads and because of the smaller canvas (GPO-0122, GPO-0124).
