On a sheet of pouncing paper, held down by drawing pins on a primed canvas of the same size, is a pen inscription that gives the work its name.
The instant that passed while writing those four words constitutes a "note” concerning the incommensurable dimensions of time. The marginal nature of the inscription also almost imperceptibly underscores the absence of an image, just as the sheet of paper pinned to the canvas removes a potential vision from the viewer's gaze.
