The illegible detail, made out of the oversized and out-of-focus enlargement of a negative, is simply meant to express the recording of light on a photosensitive film: an imperceptible instant of an invisible action.
“Un fotogramma della luce del giorno 6 maggio 1969 – the artist remarks – ‘avoids’ the subject of the reproduction, to only retain the irreducible quality of an instant”.1
The same theme was formulated in three other variants from the same year, respectively made up of three, four, and seven photo stills (GPO-0172, GPO-0173, GPO-0174).
