The two pages that precede the title-page of a monograph about Henri Rousseau, edited by Reginald Howard Wilenski in 1953, are pinned to two primed canvases of the same size, placed side by side in the manner of an open book.
The same theme was formulated in two other variants, one during the same year (GPO-0178) and the other in 1971 (GPO-0230), for those works the title-pages were taken from other books.
