GPO-0603

Life-size

Framed photo print, torn photo enlargement, white plinth

Frame 50 x 42 cm, plinth 100 x 50 x 43

Studio La Città, Verona

The photograph of a drawing by Antonio Canova portraying a slumped figure, framed as though it were a facsimile and set down on a plinth in a staggered position, reproduces the drawing in its original dimensions. The torn photographic enlargement of the same work represents the subject of the drawing in a life-size version, with the semi-rolled fragments arranged under the frame so that they in part drop downwards.
The same theme was formulated in two other variants as well, made in 1984 (GPO-0527) and in 1995 (GPO-0764), respectively.
