The photo emulsion on canvas reproduces a primed canvas propped up against several overturned canvases, of which we can just glimpse, to the left and above, two details of the stretcher. As we are told by the title ("From Life"), the image reproduces "live" the subject on which it is printed – or, vice versa, the painting expresses "live" an image of itself.
The negative used for the print on canvas shows a detail of the photograph constituting two other works made during the same year, 2200/H (GPO-0077) and Fleischfarbe (GPO-0078).
