Dismantled work
The three framed collages each arranged at the centre of a wall feature the silhouettes of nine figures wearing livery, depicted in the gesture of holding something before them and inscribed in the perspectival drawing of a room. A multitude of torn fragments – from an unknown source – are scattered on the glass of the frames and all around on the three walls of the display space.
The work is part of a themed group of works that began in 1983-84 with Trionfo della rappresentazione (GPO-0507), and uses the three images that were projected on the wall in that previous work. Further formulations of the same theme were developed until 1987, cf. GPO-0554, GPO-0562, GPO-0605, GPO-0607).
